Moving in a building with a concierge and goods lift

Modern apartment buildings make moving easier in some ways, with goods lifts and loading bays, but only if everything is booked in advance.

What most buildings ask for

• A booked date and time slot for the goods lift.
• A booked slot in the loading bay, sometimes with a vehicle height limit.
• Details of the removal company, and sometimes proof of insurance.
• Lift and corridor protection during the move.

Booking the slot

Book the goods lift as soon as you know your date. Popular slots, especially Fridays and month ends, go quickly. Ask how long the slot is and whether it can be extended on the day.

Insurance documents

Some buildings ask for the removal company's insurance details before they confirm a booking. We carry goods-in-transit insurance and can provide details when the building asks.

Moving out and moving in on the same day

If both ends are managed buildings, the two slots need to line up. Leave enough time between them for the drive and any delays.
